The time is drawing near to select Milton’s next MPP.
With today’s candidacy registration deadline now passed, the local riding stage has officially been set.
Miltonians have six candidates to choose from for the Feb. 27 Ontario election – with all major parties represented.
Here’s who’s running. Click on names to view their profiles:
- Katherine-Anne Cirlincione (NDP)
- Susan Doyle (Green)
- Zee Hamid (PC)
- Kristina Tesser Derksen (Liberal)
- John Spina (New Blue)
- Mohsin Rizvi (Ontario Centrist Party)
Repeated attempts to contact Spina were unsuccessful. The former director of design and construction in the electrical utility industry is a familiar name on the local election scene and ran in last spring’s Milton byelection, won by Hamid.
This followed the resignation of PC Parm Gill, who will run in the next federal election.
Rizvi's candidacy was announced early this afternoon (Feb. 13). Efforts to reach him began just before publication. According to his profile page linked to Elections Ontario, he's a local life insurance agent. An initial search indicates this is his first time running in a local election, at least in last decade.
Two scheduled all-candidates debates were cancelled due to a lack of participation. See more about that here.
