MiltonToday received the following letter to the editor from a reader regarding a recent article about two teens who were hit by vehicles at a school-area roundabout.
Regarding the article Milton parents sound alarm about safety at school-area roundabout.
We recently moved to Milton after living abroad in Asia and Europe for 35 years where roundabouts are common place everywhere.
One of the first things we noticed was that most drivers here seem to have no idea how to navigate around them, let alone lookout for pedestrians. Few people use signals to indicate in which direction they intend to drive, and often the signal they're using is incorrect for the lane they're in.
Clearly, more education is needed on how to properly use roundabouts if we want to reduce the risk of accidents, especially to pedestrians or cyclists.
