Big Mama's and Papa’s Pizzeria — famous for delivering the world’s largest pizza — has made a super-size debut in Milton, with the opening of its first Ontario location.
Bringing a slice of California, where the brand originated, to downtown Milton over larger cities like Toronto was a move baked with intention.
“Milton loves pizza,” said restaurant owner Kamal Singh at the grand opening Friday. He praised Milton for its blend of small-town camaraderie, big-city growth and a vibrant, diverse community.
”The day we opened, everybody came and congratulated us. That doesn't happen in bigger cities.”
With a focus on quality, Big Mama's and Papa’s brings more than just giant pizzas to the table. The menu includes everything from classics like BBQ chicken and meat lovers to Hawaiian and Margherita pizzas — and even a new Canadian creation featuring maple syrup glaze.
“It’s a very yummy pizza,” he said.
For those with a serious appetite or hosting a large event, the pizzeria serves a colossal 54-inch pizza, the largest on the menu, which cuts into 200 square slices. Another unique offering is the gondola-shaped pizza with egg.
From the ingredients to the stone deck ovens, everything is hand-picked to ensure the best product, the owner explained.
“Cooking on a stone deck requires skill and a mindset of patience, but it results in a well-cooked pizza for our customers,” Singh said, adding that most franchises don’t focus on these details because they prioritize speed.
Since firing up the ovens, Singh shared that the response from locals has been positive.
“In our first week, we delivered a lot of pizzas and got good feedback. We’re still learning, but the community has been incredibly supportive,” he said. "My focus is customer service and cleanliness."
A customer named Meg said she’s intrigued to try out the pizza after hearing from her friend about the new place.
“It’s nice to try different varieties, see what’s around the area and shop locally,” she said.
Big Mama's and Papa’s Pizzeria also offers calzones, sandwiches, salads, appetizers like chicken wings, pasta and dessert. The downtown spot is located at 222 Main St.
