Miltonians are being asked to grab a few extra items at the grocery store this Saturday (Dec. 7) – in the name of community spirit.
Sobeys, Metro, No Frills, Food Basics, the Superstore and Walmart will all be part of the Milton Food Drive, put on once again by the local Salvation Army in partnership with Milton Fire and Rescue Services.
Paper bags will be distributed at the entrance of each location, with donations being accepted between 9 a.m. and noon.
Non-perishable food items in particularly high demand include rice, peanut butter, soup, crackers and hot drinks.
A fundraising kettle can also be found at each site, accepting cash, cheque and debit/credit tap donations.
“Every donation makes a tangible difference in the lives of Milton residents who are facing impossible choices,” said Salvation Army director Ruth Hickman. “Together, we are neighbours helping neighbours. Together we are building resiliency and strengthening our community.”
