Paras Thakur is all smiles while holding his winning cheque.

It had been a long day and Paras Thakur was simply looking for a little relaxation as he hunkered down on the coach and checked his tickets on the OLG app.

What came next wasn’t exactly calm.

“When I saw that I had won, I couldn’t stop laughing,” said the local husband and father, f his $285,447.40 windfall from the OLG Sept. 13 draw. “I told my wife the news and she started to cry tears of joy.

“We had some opposite reactions, but we are incredibly grateful.”

A regular player for about seven years, Thakur called the win a blessing which he plans to put towards buying a home.

“I will also find a way to give back to my community,” he added.

The winning ticket was purchased at Petro-Canada on Ontario Street South in Milton.
