IN PHOTOS: Milton goes the distance in Terry's memory, raising over $30K

Over 400 residents turn out for annual run at E.C. Drury campus

Hundreds of Miltonians of all ages ran, walked or biked in the 44th annual Terry Fox Run Sunday (Sept. 15), joining Canadians across the country in over 650 communities to raise money for cancer research.

The local edition of the run was held at the the E.C. Drury campus and brought in over $30,000 in pledges. Over its history, the Milton event has raised more $1.1 million.

Terry Fox began his Marathon of Hope on April 12, 1980 and was forced to end it due to the return of cancer to his lungs on Sept. 1, 1980, after having run 5,373 kilometres. To date, more than $900 million has been raised for cancer research and that number continues to grow.
