Milton Public Library celebrated the opening of its Indigenous Medicine Garden at its Beaty Branch Saturday.

The reopening of the garden – now in its third year – is just the start of new initiatives with the garden, with programs running throughout the season to inform people of its medicines and what they’re used for and why they’re important.

MPL has also introduced beehives at Beaty in recent years, with the bees producing honey that’s collected at the end of each season and sold within the branch.

Saturday’s activities included an official opening, scavenger hunt, a story walk with author Nancy Cooper, a drum music performance and a tour of the garden.
