Hey kids, it’s time to flex your creative muscles in recognition of Remembrance Day.

As Nov. 11 approaches, local students in grades 1 to 12 are invited to pay tribute to our veterans past and/or present through the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 136’s annual post, essay and poem contest.

Whether through the written word or via artistic flair, Milton youth are encouraged to express why we should never forget those who served and sacrificed – and those continuing to do so – for our freedom.

Students can find out contest guidelines and make submissions at their school office. The deadline for entry is Nov. 15.

Adding to this fall’s Remembrance Day programming and services, the local Legion will officially launch its Legacy of Honour campaign.

Roughly 40 banners honouring local veterans will be hung from lamp posts at Victoria Park and along Main Street leading up to Nov. 11.
