It’s a meaningful, memorable moment for any new Catholic school.
And Tuesday (Dec. 10) was no exception, as staff, students, trustees and special guests gathered for the blessing and dedication of St. Veronica Catholic Elementary School.
Officiating the special ceremony at the Kennedy Circle school was His Excellency, the Most Reverend Wayne Lobsinger, Auxiliary Bishop with the Diocese of Hamilton.
Assisting him was St. Benedict Parish Pastor Lawrence Parent.
“Inspired by the tender and courageous example of our Patron Saint, St. Veronica reminds us that even the smallest acts of love can create ripples that transform the world,” said principal Angie Barden, speaking of the school’s namesake. “With her simple yet profound gesture of wiping the face of Jesus, she showed us the power of kindness, compassion and courage, values at the very core of our faith and of our school.”
Halton Catholic District School Board chair Marvin Duarte, trustee Emma Murphy, Mayor Gord Krantz, councillor Adil Khalqi and MPP Zee Hamid were among the dignitaries sharing in the celebration.
Musical performances complemented the blessing and dedication.
