As the Christmas season draws near, many in Milton are getting in the holiday spirit.
St. George & St. Abanoub Coptic Church and other local churches are hosting Walk to Bethlehem, an immersive pageant experience that turns visitors into witnesses -- of sorts -- to the birth of Jesus Christ.
Andrew’s Scenic Acres (9365 10 Side Rd) will be transformed into a reenactment of first-century Bethlehem on Saturday, Nov. 30 and Sunday, Dec. 1. Actors from many participating churches are slated to play the various characters from the story of the Nativity.
Admission allows visitors to see the three wise men, angels, Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus, among others, act as the guiding star to Christmas day.
The purpose of the pageant, the Milton Coptic church’s website says, is to “rediscover the timeless story of Jesus’ birth, fostering a sense of hope and unity that defines Christmas.”
Spots, and tickets, are limited and are being handed out on a first-come-first-serve basis.
There are 14 time slots available and each has room for 50 or so ticket holders. Those interested can step back with passes purchased on WalkToBethlehem.ca.
