Menace edge Blades in road trip finale

Win comes on heels of big offensive trade
menace-header

The Menace closed out a three-game road trip as they began it – in victory.

But this one had a little more suspense in the mix.

In what no doubt felt like a must-win situation after the previous night’s overtime loss to last-place Caledon, Milton struck twice in the opening frame and hung on to beat Oakville 2-1 Friday.

The narrow decision came just hours after the Menace and Toronto Jr. Canadians swapped their top scorers – sending Gabriel Ciarallo (14g, 17a) to the city and bringing in 6-foot-2, 207 hometown forward Luke Johnston, who has 11 goals and 11 assists this season.

Austin McKillop turned back 28 shots for the victory, while Dean Deligeorgis and Madden MacDougall scored nine minutes apart in the first – with their fourth and sixth of the year respectively.

Now 13-9-0-2 and sitting fifth in the OJHL’s West Conference, Milton returns to Memorial Arena Sunday evening to face Lindsay. Game time is 6 p.m.
