A rainy afternoon in the country’s capital put a pause on Brody Clark’s OFSAA hardware haul.
The Milton District High School standout runner – with three provincial medals to his credit – tamed the 6-kilometre course at Ottawa’s Mooney’s Bay in 19:52.5 Monday (Nov. 4).
That was well off the 18:33 victory the 11th grader delivered at the Golden Horseshoe Athletic Conference championships in Oakville Oct. 22 that would have been enough for a convincing victory at this year’s OFSAA.
Monday’s time placed him sixth overall among the senior boys – 20 seconds behind winner Daniel Cova of Ottawa’s Louis-Riel.
Bishop Reding’s Maximilian Urbaniak finished 74th in the junior boys division, while schoolmate Andrei Lungu placed 116th among the novice boys.
Qualifying for OFSAA as a team in the novice girls ranks, Bishop Reding was led by Laila Matthon, who placed 127th. Rounding out the squad were Isabella Rodrigues (198th), Maelle Rybinski (213th), Hayley Cournoyer (223rd) and Madison Camara (231st).
