A productive start and rock-solid defence were the ideal mix for the Menace’s intro to 2025.
Scoring three times in the opening frame – the first two goals coming just 41 seconds apart – and holding the opposition to 20 shots, Milton bested the Mississauga Chargers 4-1 Tuesday night at Memorial Arena.
It was their 10th win in the last 11 games and lifted them to 24-10-0-3, reclaiming sole possession of third place in the OJHL’s Western Conference.
Kyle Burton notched his sixth and seventh of the season, the latter coming early in an emotionally-charged third period between the league’s two most heavily penalized teams – with two fights and a few other confrontations threatening to spark a full-on brawl.
The Chargers’ shorthanded tally late in the second spoiled Austin McKillop’s bid for a second season shutout. It marked the 14th time this year he’s held the opposition to two goals or less.
Alessandro Petreccia and Luke Johnston also scored for Milton, with Justin Dezoete drawing two assists.
The Menace close out a three-game home stand Sunday at Memorial against the Oakville Blades. Game time is 6 p.m.
