Over 200 competitors will descend on Mattamy National Cycling Centre Feb. 28 to Mar. 2 for the track cycling provincial championships.

Could the next world-class cyclists be spinning their wheels soon in Milton?

History suggests so, as the Mattamy National Cycling Centre – the breeding ground for several Olympians, including Milton’s own Michael Foley – is set to host the 2025 Track Provincials Feb. 28 to Mar. 2.

Now celebrating its 10th anniversary since opening for the 2015 Pam Am Games, the local velodrome will welcome more than 200 adult, youth and para-athlete riders from Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and the U.S.

Provincial supremacy will be contested in all track cycling disciplines – including the team sprint and team pursuit, points race, scratch and madison.

Miltonian Cole Dempster – a 2023 Junior World Championships bronze medalist – was among those competing at last year’s provincials.

The local cycling ranks will be well represented over the three-day showcase, with athletes from both the Milton Revolution Cycling Club and Milton U23 Women’s Project Team.

Admission is free and competition will run each day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
