Morgan White has a newfound appreciation for how high-stakes heartbreak feels.
The Milton defender and her Canadian teammates held three separate leads in Sunday’s World Lacrosse Box Championships final – including with under six minutes remaining – before being eclipsed by the U.S.
The 10-7 loss followed a thoroughly dominant run to the gold-medal showdown at the 10-team tournament in Utica, New York.
The Canadians outscored their round-robin opposition a combined 113-0 before dismantling the Netherlands 33-2 in the quarterfinals.
From there, they upstaged eventual bronze medalist Haudenosaunee 19-3 in the semis.
A midfield sophomore at Nashville’s Vanderbilt University, White finished the tournament with three goals and four assists while playing a strong shutdown game throughout the week.
She’s a Milton District High School graduate who came up through the Team Ontario ranks.
