Expensive watch lifted in Milton distraction theft

Incident follows similar recent occurrences across Halton

Halton police are urging residents to be cautious in the wake of recent distraction thefts across the region.

The latest of these came yesterday afternoon (Nov. 24) at the Shoppers Drug Mart parking lot on Nipissing Road.

Media relations officer Jeff Dillon reports that at 2:14 p.m. the victim was approached on foot by the suspect who offered what is believed to be fake jewelry as a gift.

The suspect attempted to place the jewelry on the victim, during which time the victim’s watch – valued at over $5,000 – was removed.

The suspect is described as a white woman, between 30 and 40 years of age, with a medium build.

The investigation is ongoing.
