Milton resident charged with stunt driving

Driver is also charged with going 50+ km/h over the posted speed limit

MAPLETON TOWNSHIP - Wellington County OPP charges Milton resident with two provincial offences.

On Nov. 6, 2024, just after 9 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Unit was performing a traffic enforcement initiative and observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed, to which a traffic stop was initiated on Peel Street East within Mapleton Township.

As a result of the investigation, a 56-year-old from Milton was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following:

  • race a motor vehicle
  • speeding 50+ Km/h over posted limit

 Anyone charged with drive motor vehicle - race a motor vehicle receives a 14-day impoundment and a 30-day driver's licence suspension as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the provincial offences court - Guelph, at a later date.
