Teen and man face slew of charges after police chase in Milton plaza

Miltonians visiting a popular plaza yesterday morning got a bit of shock.

Those in the area of McDonald’s on Santa Maria Boulevard around 10:30 a.m. Sunday (Dec. 1) were witness to a brief foot chase involving two males found reclining or sleeping in a vehicle.

Halton police were called to the parking lot for a possible impaired driver incident and attempted to speak with the two occupants, who quickly opened the door and fled the scene.

They were apprehended a short distance away.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed identification and debit cards not belonging to the accused, as well as break-in tools and a key reprogramming device used in auto thefts.

A 15-year-old Montreal teen has been charged with:

  • Obstruct police officer
  • Possession of identity documents
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of break-in tools
  • Possession of device for the purpose of committing motor vehicle theft
  • Fail to comply being on a release order
  • Person under 19 years possess cannabis
  • Have care and control of vehicle while cannabis readily available
  • Drive motor vehicle no licence

A Peterborough man, 28, has been charged with:

  • Possession of break-in tools
  • Possession of device for the purpose of committing theft

The charges have not been tested in court.
