The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of "Project Whoville," an investigation aimed at safeguarding the spirit of the holiday season.
The investigation has led to the apprehension of a notorious suspect — the so-called "Christmas Grinch"— whose actions threatened the joy and unity of the Halton community.
Project Whoville was launched earlier this month following multiple reports of gifts disappearing mysteriously from homes across Halton.
After weeks of dedicated work by the HRPS, the Grinch was located and arrested during the early morning hours of Dec. 20.
Officers also executed a search warrant at a remote residence in the Halton Hills area, where the following items were seized:
- Hundreds of stolen holiday items, including gifts, ornaments, and Christmas trees.
- Evidence suggesting elaborate plans to "steal Christmas" from the entire community.
- A sled, believed to have been used to transport the stolen goods.
“This investigation exemplifies the importance of community collaboration,” said HRPS Chief, Stephen Tanner, “Thanks to vigilant residents and the tireless efforts of our officers, we have not only recovered stolen items but also restored the joy and hope of the holiday season for our community.”
