A driver involved in a late-night single-vehicle collision is facing numerous charges.
Halton police responded to a crash in the area of Savoline Boulevard and Pringle Avenue at 11 p.m. on Saturday (Sept. 14), where they found a taxi cab lodged on top of a parking block.
Police determined that the taxi — stolen from Etobicoke — was being driven by the suspect, who had provided a false name and was carrying fraudulent identification. Additionally, the accused allegedly caused damage to police property while in custody.
Following an investigation, a 25-year-old man from Etobicoke was charged with the following:
- Operation while impaired
- Refusal to comply with demand
- Obstruct peace officer
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Procurement and trafficking of government documents
- Mischief
- Failure to comply with probation order
- Operation while prohibited
The accused was later released on an undertaking with a future court date.
The charges have not been tested in court.
