The Milton BIA will be glad to ‘See You in September’ as the thusly named car show will be returning Saturday, Sept. 14.

Downtown Main Street will be filled with 120 classic cars of yesteryear, anything from one’s favourite Chevy to a Caddy with its recognizable fins.

This is the second year the local event has been held in September. For roughly the past decade-and-a-half, Milton hosted a similar car show in July. But the pandemic, as with many things, threw a wrench into the works.

“We felt last year was a good year as any to bring it back,” Mira Nasser, event coordinator for the BIA said.

This year, the sounds of DJ Rockin’ Rob and The Starlite Dreamers will reverberate through the downtown core, as they will provide visitors with musical entertainment. Parents can keep the kids busy with a tour of a fire truck.

A particularly fun activity for the little ones will be a scavenger hunt. Youth will be tasked with finding characters from the 2006 movie Cars. “They get a little checklist and they write where they found each car,” BIA marketing coordinator Lauren Uba told MiltonToday. “We have pictures of them, and you have to find Lightning [McQueen] or Mater.”

Adults can vote for the people’s choice award, with the owner of the winning vehicle receiving a special prize.

“We’ve got a giveaway as well. If you purchase local, you can enter your receipt. It just shows that you purchased and then you are eligible for a prize,” BIA Executive Director Monique Gaudet said.

Those who have had their fill of walking can cool off with a cold one at a beer garden, the first time the BIA has put one together.

The car lovers gathering is being presented in partnership with Wallace Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, GMC. The BIA has also teaming up with the Townsend Smith Foundation, which is currently pushing to bring an adult hospice to north Halton.

The show runs from 4 to 9 p.m.

More information, including where participants can register their car, can be found on the Milton BIA website
