The Milton District Mustangs are playing in the provincial high school field lacrosse championship this week in Georgetown.

The Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) tournament runs today (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday) with all games being played at Gellert Community Centre.

Milton opened the tournament Wednesday morning against Ottawa’s Sacred Heart, winning 9-7. It plays its next game at 2 p.m. Wednesday against St. Catharines’ Dennis Morris.

The championship round takes place Thursday, with the gold and bronze medal games at 3:30 p.m.

Milton won both the Halton Secondary School Athletic Association and the Golden Horseshoe Athletic Conference championships. The Mustangs went 7-1-2 in the regular season and defeated Nelson 8-7 in the HSSAA final.

After edging Notre Dame 6-5 in the GHAC semifinal, Milton defeated Christ the King, the OFSAA tournament hosts, 6-1 to claim the GHAC title.

Both Nelson and Christ the King were undefeated prior to their losses to Milton.
