Kayla Alexander scored 21 points and added six rebounds to lead Canada to a 77-74 triumph over No. 3 Australia in pre-Olympic play Tuesday in Segovia, Spain.
This lifted the national women’s team to 1-2 in their lead up to Paris, and marked the first game with WNBAers Bridget Carleton, Kia Nurse and Aaliyah Edwards in the lineup.
Canada and Australia will face each other in the Olympics’ preliminary round Aug. 1.
Alexander and Canada close out pre-Olympic play today (July 24) against Spain and kick off their Olympic run July 29 against host France.
This marks the 33-year-old Miltonian's second Olympics, having been part of the team that finished ninth in Tokyo.
