Halton police seize guns and cocaine in drug trafficking investigation

Police seized a pair of handguns and suspected drugs as part of a drug trafficking investigation in which two people were arrested.

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has seized multiple guns and laid nearly 30 charges as part of a drug trafficking investigation. 

The HRPS Drug and Organized Crime Unit commenced an investigation in the summer of 2024 into an individual suspected of trafficking illicit drugs in the region of Halton and throughout the GTHA.

On Aug. 28, 2024, HRPS officers arrested a 31-year-old Mississauga man and a 31-year-old man from Brampton for their alleged involvement.

Investigators also executed search warrants on an associated vehicle and residence in Mississauga. As a result, police seized the following:

  • A loaded Glock 9mm prohibited compact handgun
  • A loaded Bersa 9mm handgun (loaded with hollow point rounds)
  • 1 kilogram of cocaine
  • 1 ounce of crystal methamphetamine
  • 112 oxycodone pills
  • Other indicia including scales packaging and bundled currency

The Mississauga man has been charged with:

  • Possession of a loaded firearm (x2)
  • Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle (x2)
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (x2)
  • Careless storage of a firearm (x2)
  • Possession of a prohibited device (x1)
  • Trafficking a controlled substance – cocaine
  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (x4) (cocaine, methamphetamine, oxycodone)

The Brampton man has been charged with:

  • Possession of a loaded firearm (x2)
  • Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle (x2)
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (x2)
  • Careless storage of a firearm (x2)
  • Possession of a prohibited device (x1)
  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (x4) (cocaine, methamphetamine, oxycodone)

The charges have not been tested in court.
