An employee at a downtown Milton jewelry store was injured during a brazen daylight robbery on Friday.

At around 5 p.m. on July 19, four suspects — armed with hammers — entered the Lebo Jewelry on Martin Street and smashed display cases, grabbing various pieces of jewelry, according to Halton police’s media officer Sgt. Ryan Anderson.

“The store was open at the time of the robbery and the suspects were confronted by an employee of the store who attempted to stop it,” the officer said in an email. “He was assaulted and struck with a hammer by the suspects and suffered minor injuries.”

The estimated value of the stolen items is currently unavailable, and there are no descriptions of the suspects at this time.
