A slew of vehicle break-ins has alarmed residents in a local neighbourhood, with over a dozen vehicles targeted.

According to Halton police, about 16 vehicles were broken into overnight from Sunday (Sept. 1) to Monday (Sept. 2) in the Woodward Avenue and Ontario Street area.

Const. Ryan Anderson, Halton police’s media relations officer, said that the incidents followed a similar pattern — with the suspects smashing vehicle windows, ransacking the interiors and stealing various items.

Nearly all the targeted vehicles were pick-up trucks.

The break-ins extended beyond the Dorset Park neighbourhood, with additional incidents reported over the long weekend in neighbouring areas as well — according to the police’s website and social media posts.

Anderson says the police's criminal investigations and forensics units are now involved in the case.

“If anyone in the area has any info or observed anything overnight on their surveillance or doorbell cameras, they are asked to contact police,” he said.
