Five spots left for tributes that will be hung at Victoria Park and along downtown Main Street

There’ll be a little extra love shown for Milton’s veterans this fall, and it’s not too late to join in the recognition.

Residents and businesses can pay tribute to those who served and sacrificed through the Legion’s new Legacy of Honour Milton. The initiative will see about 40 banners displayed on lamp posts at Victoria Park and along downtown Main Street in time for Remembrance Day.

Five spots remain available for about $200 each, which includes the cost of the banner and installation for two years.

Inspired by similar programs in communities across southern Ontario, Milton Legion president Sarah has been thrilled by the initial response for the campaign.

“The reception has been overwhelming,” she said, adding fundraising continues – through the sale of t-shirts, sweaters, coffee mugs, etc. – to help cover the cost for those wishing to honour a veteran but can’t afford the expense.

Those looking to secure one of the last banner spots are asked to email [email protected] to receive a registration form.
