UPDATE: Attempted murder suspect released by mistake rearrested in Oshawa

Oct. 13 update:
In the late evening hours of Oct. 12, 2024, the Halton Regional Police Service located and arrested Nana-Yaw Asante in Oshawa without incident. Police would like to thank the public and media for their support in this investigation.

Original Oct. 11 release:
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is requesting public assistance in locating a wanted male, Nana-Yaw Asante, 23, from Hamilton.

Asante is currently an accused with the Ontario Provincial Police for multiple offences including Attempted Murder with a Firearm. A warrant is being sought by HRPS for the offence of Unlawfully at Large after Asante attended Burlington Court on Oct. 10, 2024, for an unrelated matter and was released from custody in error.

Asante is described as male, black, 5’5” tall, 145 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

If observed by members of the public, do not approach, call 911.

Asante is encouraged to retain counsel and contact HRPS.
