Halton police have made an arrest in connection with the theft of power tools and other items from a Milton construction site.

On Aug. 28, two unknown suspects broke into a trailer at a construction site at 6554 Tremaine Rd. and allegedly took several power tools, among other things, Halton police say.

Weeks later, one of the power tools, which had unique markings, was listed for sale online.

Following an investigation by the police’s 1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau (property crime team), a search warrant was executed on Oct. 8 at a residence in Lincoln, Ont., where the stolen tools were believed to be stored.

Investigators recovered several tools suspected to have been stolen from the Tremaine construction site, and a 30-year-old man from Lincoln, Ont., was arrested at the scene. He has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The charge hasn’t been tested in court.

The investigation is ongoing as police work to identify the two suspects involved in the break-in and recover the remaining stolen items. Anyone with information is asked to contact the 1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4747 ext. 2416 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-TIPS.
