VIDEO: Truck driver gets stuck on prohibited road in rural Milton

Took Halton police three hours to clear road

There’s a reason why road signs are there; ignore them at your own peril.

That’s the message Halton police’s commercial motor vehicle unit is sharing in the wake of a lengthy response incident in rural Milton Wednesday.

Officers were called to an area along Twiss Road – one of the steepest, tightest roadways in the region – around mid-afternoon, when a fully-loaded 54,000-kilogram truck got stuck climbing the treacherous stretch.

The road has a clearly marked sign prohibiting trucks and buses from travelling on it.

The stretch of Twiss Road was closed for roughly three hours in order to remove the truck.

“So there’s a reason why roads have signs telling you it’s not a truck route,” says an officer on X (formerly Twitter).
