Miltonians wanted for our community advisory group.

Being a mirror of the community should always be at the forefront of local journalism.

As such, when readers of any given culture, demographic or walk of life visit MiltonToday.ca, we want them to see themselves represented – be it through events, successes, goodwill efforts, concerns, etc.

That’s the goal anyway.

To that end, a culture of listening is essential to properly covering this diverse community.

With that in mind, we recently formed an advisory committee made up of various individuals – whom we commonly call ‘stakeholders’ – from both urban and rural Milton.

Our first meeting last week offered plenty of helpful opinions and suggestions, but it was only the start.

We’re hoping to add a few more voices to the group, and invite you to consider joining us.

The time commitment won’t be burdensome – just two or three virtual meetings per year – and Miltonians of all ages, occupations, ethnicities and abilities are welcome.

You don’t need to have lived in town for decades or be a member of an organization to be part of the team. In fact there’s really only one requirement; that you care about this community and wish to bolster its vibrancy through strong local journalism.

Please note, this does not include special-interest groups and political organizations.

The advisory board’s mandate is to provide unbiased insights and ideas from a third-party point of view. In short, we want to help build better relationships with people and groups whose information needs are not being met.

We want to hear more voices about what we are doing right and where we could do better. Journalism is a craft, and that means always learning and consistently wanting to improve.

Those interested in joining our group can email me at [email protected]. Please include your background and the reasons why you want to be part of the board.

We look forward to hearing from you. We’re here to listen!
